Artist Statement
Art is entertainment. A simple statement that describes my own motivation and ambition within the art world. Within my own art, I strive to amuse my audience regardless of the medium. If the audience before me is not interested in any capacity, then to me that is a failure. I choose to practice and polish multiple art forms for my own entertainment as well. To me, the pursuit of knowledge is a concept that often leads to further my inspiration. If I do not know the concept, I learn it, I practice it, then I demonstrate it. If demonstrated properly it is now a new way to entertain my own audience.
About Me
Hello, my name is Matthew Persico. I want to be an Animator. I graduated in May of 2022 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. I majored in creative Media and minored in Marketing.
Within my studies, I always gravitated toward the characters over the environment. The different people within the story are what fascinated me the most. Their personalities are one aspect. But let us consider a deeper notion; animation. Upon observation, we begin to notice how a character walks, how they talk, and how they interacted with the environment and people around them. These aspects are what breathe life into the characters. They become more real and relatable. That is the aspect of animation; characterization is the most important. That to me is animation.
